In-kind Donation Policy

Cuba Blind Relief Gratefully Accepts new and like-new blind assistive devices from organizations and individuals. We accept items of all kinds, from the very basic to the highly sophisticated. We encourage you to check our Donation Priorities list page to see if you are able to donate any of our priority items. We also intermittently list in-kind services that support the administrative  and operations side of CBR. If you have blind assistive devices not listed as a priority item, and wish to donate, we would be very interested in talking with you about our ability to accept them.

For your tax purposes, wpon delivery of your donation to our Dropoff Center, we will email you a donation receipt reflecting the value of your contribution.

Items that We Can Accept

CBR can accept any items that are considered blind or low-vision assistive devices that would be used in educational, employment or independent living settings. Such items typically will have large-print, magnification, tactile voice output or braille features. See below for a non-exhaustive list of the types of items that we typically accept. The state of the items should be new or gently used, clean and in excellent condition, include all its component parts and fully functional. If your donation includes laptops, tablets, smart phones or any other electronic equipment that we determine that we can accept, essential cables and power cords must be included. Additionally, if the donated device stores personally identifying information, it should be stripped from the device , and it should be reset to its original factory settings.

Items We Cannot Accept

In general, we are unable to accept devices that are not considered standard blind assistive technologies and/or have been heavily used, are damaged or dirty, are not fully functional, do not have all their essential components and accessories or are outdated.

Privacy Protection Disclaimer

CBR will not be responsible for removing personally-identifying information on donated devices, nor liable for data security or privacy violations that may result from unremoved data.
