Frequently Asked Questions
How do we help individuals with blindness and/or visual impairment?
By providing access to the most basic to the most sophisticated of blind assistive technologies, we lay the groundwork for empowering the blind and low-vision community in Cuba to aspire to and reach their highest levels of achievement in education, employment and daily life settings.
What programs or services does CBR offer?
Through our growing support community in the United States, we donate the widest possible range of bind assistive technologies to blind and low-vision individuals in Cuba.
Who benefits from the solicited in-kind product and financial donations?
By operating on an in-kind model for both programmatic and operations expenses, we seek to ensure that the maximum resources collected reach blind and low-vision individuals in Cuba.
What measurable impact has CBR had so far?
To date, we have delivered over $6,000.00 of blind assistive technologies including large-rint keyboards, scanning devices and software, audio reading devices, large-screen monitors and headphones.
How will my donation be used?
Financial donations are used to cover our barebones operating costs and funds in excess of those will be directed to expenses associated with the implementation of programmatic activities. This may include the purchase of an assistive device that we were unable to solicit as a product donation. Product donations are delivered directly to blind and low-vision individuals in Cuba.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. We have 501(c)(3) status with the US Internal Revenue Service.
Will I receive a receipt for tax purposes?
Yes. We will provide a digital receipt to your email address.
How can I help beyond making a donation? (e.g., volunteering, fundraising, advocacy)
Other ways to get involved include becoming a partner, sponsor or volunteer. At this time, we are eager to recruit volunteers with administrative, clerical and computer skills to help us run our operations. If you wish to learn more about any of these opportunities, lease email us at contact@cubablindrelief.org
Does Cuba Blind Relief partner with businesses or other nonprofits?
Yes. We enthusiastically look to work with partner organizations that share our values and the objective of empowering Blind and low-vision individuals. Through mutually beneficial relationships, we seek to foster trust as we achieve our, respective, long-term strategic goals.
Are there sponsorship opportunities available?
Yes. For more information on current sponsorship opportunities, go to Get Involved >> Sponsor, where we highlight fundraising efforts that need committed Sponsors.
Can I set up a recurring donation?
Yes. We welcome recurring donations.
At this time, we can accept donations by check. We are actively working to include other digital payment options, including all major credit cards, debit cards, ACH, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or Venmo. When these are in place, you will be able to click the Donate button to begin the process for setting up recurring donations.
Does your organization accept corporate donations or sponsorships?
Yes. To discuss details of either, please email us at contact@cubablindrelief.org
Who can I contact if I have questions about my donation?
